EA has released an announcement on the official EA answers page to confirm the next Need for Speed game. Ben Walke, one of the Dice team members, took to the forum today to announce that in celebration of 25 years of Need for Speed, the next Need For Speed game will be hitting the shelves in late 2019.
The last NFS game Need For Speed Payback was released in 2017 and received very mixed reviews. Ben Walke stated that EA’s main focus for the game would be the cars and customization.
Ben then went on to say that, “NFS is also the culmination of many different aspects, and there’s a special essence that appears when all these aspects come together at a very high quality.”
Since E3 2019 is just around the corner. It would be very interesting to see whether or not the new NFS will make its way into the show. EA has already released its planned schedule for this year’s event. This includes Apex legends, Battlefield, Fifa 20, Madden NFL 20, and The Sims 4. But EA like many others is no strangers to keeping some announcements in the bag until the official event.
Ben also stated, “the next time we talk, we’ll be packing our bags and heading south for the full unveiling”. Whether or not this is a hint at an E3 2019 unveiling or not is unclear. We are hoping to see some form of news at the big event.
Although we won’t be seeing anything else for the time being. It is interesting to see where this new title will take us in the NFS series.
