Mortal Kombat 11 DLC Announcement Coming Next Week?

A recent Twitter post from NetherRealm Studios creative director, Ed Boon, reveals that a Mortal Kombat 11 DLC announcement might be imminent. DLC of course, is referring to MK11 season pass characters that are expected to be added to the base roster.

Here’s the tweet from the man himself:

Now it’s worth mentioning that Ed Boon is notorious for his troll persona, so take this tweet as you will. Either way, if NetherRealm Studios is following the Injustice model, we’re reaching the optimal time of a Mortal Kombat 11 DLC release date.

Fans have been speculating just who will be joining the roster of the game. Ash Williams, a former candidate of the DLC roster, was debunked by Bruce Campbell himself, so don’t count on that appearance.

Other rumors included characters like Pennywise from the IT movies and even Spawn from Image comics. None of these have been confirmed by NetherRealm Studios. If this tweet is true, however, we could be seeing a reveal next week.

The only Mortal Kombat 11 DLC character confirmed right now is Shang Tsung, who has been seen in the Krypt as well. He’s also portrayed by Cary Hiroyuki, the same actor that portrayed him in the cult classic Mortal Kombat movie. MK 11 adores references the classic movie in as many ways as they can, this casting is perhaps the biggest fanservice to it.

Considering that Mortal Kombat 11 sales are absolutely through the roof, I’d say releasing the Mortal Kombat 11 DLC at the current time would be very beneficial to NetherRealm Studios.

Furthermore, it’ll put speculating and theorizing fans at ease as well finally, knowing just who is being added to the roster of the world-renowned fighting game.
