Call of Duty 2019 Title Is Confusing, Game Inspired By “No Russian” Mission From MW2

Call of Duty 2019 is called Call of Duty Modern Warfare, according to multiple reports. This is surprising to know because everyone was expecting Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 as the title of this year’s COD game.

According to YouTuber LongSensation and Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, this year’s Call of Duty is simply called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Yes, there are no numbers included in the title. This news was first broken by the Youtuber and later confirmed by Schreier, who’s one of the most reliable reporters in the gaming industry. Further, Eurogamer’s sources have also confirmed this name for Call of Duty 2019.

Do not mistake Call of Duty Modern Warfare with the OG Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. The new Call of Duty game will be the fourth game and entry in Modern Warfare series.

Another Tweet by Jason Schreier unveils that the upcoming Call of Duty game is a “soft reboot” of the franchise. However, it’s unclear what “soft reboot” means at this point. Apparently, we will learn about it in the near future. Activision has been showing its new title to Yotubers and Influencers lately so this leak was bound to happen at some time.

According got Schreier, Infinity Ward’s new game will be “be heavy on troubling, realistic emotional moments, very much inspired by the controversial No Russian campaign in Modern Warfare 2 that allowed the player to gun down civilians.” If that’s true, we are more excited than ever before about the upcoming game. That’s because the “No Russian” mission in MW2 is one of the best missions ever included in a Call of Duty game. In short, prepare for an intense storyline.

Of course, all of the above information should be treated as a rumor until Activision or Infinity Ward confirm anything about the upcoming game. It’s expected that Activision will soon announce the title for this year’s installment and most likely sometime in June around E3. Further, Eurogamer’s sources tell that the upcoming Modern Warfare will be officially revealed on May 30.

This is not the first rumor/leak that we have heard about this year’s Call of Duty. There have been various leaks in the past telling that this year’s Call of Duty title is a new Modern Warfare game. Former Call of Duty Modern Warfare developer Robert Bowling has been also giving clear hints that the next Call of Duty game is indeed a new title in Modern Warfare franchise.

Call of Duty 2019 will release on Sony’s PlayStation 4, Microsoft’s Xbox One and PC.
