Godzilla: King of the Monsters is going to be coming out in a week or so, and Bluehole is giving players the opportunity to track down Godzilla in PUBG. Players who participate will be getting new Gozilla-themed loot, and might even catch a glimpse of the kaiju later this month.
Godzilla recently made it back into the public consciousness in a big way, even for a Kaiju. After his 1998 film killed hopes for a new franchise, Godzilla made a return in the 2014 monster movie and the much more horrifying 2016 movie Shin Godzilla (or Godzilla: Resurgence in the West).
Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be amping things up, showing off Mothra, Rodan, and Godzilla’s arch-nemesis King Ghidorah as the Kaiju in the new film. However, players tracking down Godzilla in PUBG will only be able to see the big guy himself.
The PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds update that will be coming later this month mainly focuses around players tracking Godzilla via his enormous footprints. These footprints will contain Godzilla-themed items, such as new skins, but we don’t know what else.
This is only the most recent event that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has done, as the game has appeared to have stabilized and continued going strong with over a hundred million players. PUBG Mobile, for instance, just finished up a Resident Evil 2 crossover event.
In that event, players had to survive the night against an endless horde of zombies, and there was also a Mission Impossible event to promote Mission Impossible: Fallout back in 2018.
A similar event was held for Chinese players some time ago, though instead of hunting Godzilla they were tracking down a dragon, in celebration of Chinese New Year.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be coming to theaters on May 31, next Friday, so be on the lookout in Battlegrounds to see when you’ll be able to find Godzilla in PUBG.
