CD Projekt Red Says Cyberpunk 2077 Development “Is Proceeding At Full Speed”

There have already been a lot of rumors about CD Projekt Red facing a lot of financial trouble and backlash regarding Cyberpunk 2077’s crunch. A lot of people believed that the game will eventually be delayed. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. According to CD Projekt Red’s CFO Piotr Nielubowicz, Cyberpunk 2077’s development “is proceeding at full speed.”

In a video report relating to CD Projekt Capital Group’s consolidated sales revenue, CFO Piotr Nielubowicz detailed CDPR’s earnings for the first three months of 2019. Nielubowicz also reports that the majority of CDPR’s investments are going towards Cyberpunk 2077’s development.

In the quarter of Jan 1st-March 31st of 2019, CD Projekt Red spent a total of 25,183,000 PLN, which equals to $6,539,900 USD, on development of new video games and technologies for 2019. The majority of this money went into the development of Cyberpunk 2077.

CD Projekt also released their Consolidated Report for Q1 2019 yesterday in which the company writes:

“Top-notch development quality along with further effective marketing activities surrounding the release of Cyberpunk 2077, PR activities, hype building and involvement in fostering a strong gamer community will all significantly affect the market performance of the upcoming product.”

The company also reports on sales by stating:

“Current results are strongly dependent on the popularity of Witcher-themed games already published by the Company, whereas in future reporting periods focus will shift to the development progress and market reception of Cyberpunk 2077 and further projects.”

Nielubowicz also mentions in the video that E3 2019 is “the most important E3 fair in the Group’s history.” Nielubowicz also hints on some unannounced projects by saying, “We have a truly exciting line-up and cannot wait to present it!” So it is likely CD Projekt Red will surprise fans by bringing something new to the table.

CD Projekt Red will have private and public booths at E3 2019 but the public and press won’t be able to get a hands-on preview of Cyberpunk 2077.

The game is in its final stages of development, the only thing that remains is to polish it. Cyberpunk 2077 is perhaps CD Projekt Red’s most ambitious game project to date. Previous gameplay trailers have shown just how big of a game Cyberpunk is going to be. And with a game this big, comes a lot of hard work.

Just quite recently, CD Projekt Red received some backlash regarding how it’s been treating its workers following Cyberpunk 2077’s crunch. The studio addressed the Cyberpunk 2077 backlash by promising to treat its employees humanely and with respect.
