Everyone has their eyes on CD Projekt Red expecting them to reveal Cyberpunk 2077’s release date. An industry insider claims that fans will get to see new gameplay footage and a target release date for CD Projekt Red’s CyberPunk 2077 during Microsoft’s E3 2019 panel.
The original leak thread started gaining traction after it emerged on NeoGAF by a user named Braldryr yesterday. The leak introduces himself by saying “I am just a person who… let’s just say knows many people, some would rather argue that I know TOO MANY people.”
Braldryr goes extensively into details by breaking down the thread into sections of what is confirmed and not confirmed. In the “Microsoft E3 2019 Media Briefing” section, Braldryr lists “Cyberpunk 2077” with “Progress Update/New Gameplay Trailer and a Targeted Date”.
Of course, the release date news doesn’t come as a surprise as we have been seeing many leaks and rumors suggesting that CD Projekt Red will show Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2019. The studio has already confirmed that they will be appearing at E3 2019. The only thing that was unknown was the game’s launch date. If this leak is true, it is highly likely we will see some confirmation regarding Cyberpunk 2077’s release date during E3 2019.
“Targeted date” means the release date CD Projekt Red will aim for. Of course, this date will be subject to change. Various factors can impact a game’s release date such as problems in the game’s development cycle, post-production, logistical errors, marketing and publicity, and more. Back in March, the studio said that the development on Cyberpunk 2077 is still “far from over” implying that the game isn’t perfected yet. Just quite recently, CD Projekt Red also received some backlash regarding how it has been treating its employees following Cyberpunk 2077’s crunch. CDPR then made a statement, vowing to treat their workers with more respect.
What will be Cyberpunk 2077’s release date?
Even though CD Projekt Red hasn’t announced an official Cyberpunk 2077 release date yet, you can expect the target release date to be somewhere within 2020.
CD Projekt Red isn’t known for shipping an unpolished game, what they are known for is designing immersive open worlds, creating engaging characters and their story arcs, crafting unforgettable experiences, and releasing DLC that seem like they are games on their own. Their work on the Witcher series packs all of these qualities and cements CDPR as being one of the best game developers working in the industry today.
At this point, fans are expecting a lot from CDPR. They have been patiently waiting on the edges of their seats ever since the gameplay reveal at E3 2018. If this leak is true, they only have to wait till E3 2019 where CD Projekt Red will finally reveal Cyberpunk 2077’s targeted release date.
