A Plague Tale: Innocence Chapter 1: The De Rune Legacy Walkthrough

You, Amicia, first start out in the forest as you follow your dad into the training grounds to learn a bit about the slingshot weapon.

To gather the rocks for your sling, head to the nearby trunk and look for some rocks. Now proceed to the apple tree to start your training session of using a slingshot.

Training Session

Like in traditional shooters, you aim with the left trigger and shoot with the right one. Aim for the apples and when the reticle turns yellow, shoot your target.

You’re given 10 seconds to perform this task but you’ll complete the training no matter how many apples you manage to knock down.

Dealing with the Boar

Immediately, your brave dog named Lion will detect something so follow it deeper into the forest. As you move closer, you’ll find that your dog was chasing after a wild boar.

As instructed by your dad, use the stealth option by hiding in the tall grass and sneak up on the boar.

Now aim with your newly formed slingshot and use the rocks from your inventory, or gather from your surroundings, to line up and fire a shot up the snout of the animal. The boar runs away after being hit but so does your pet dog.

Move deeper into the marshy region of the forest in your hunt to find Lion. Eventually, you’ll come across a hole in the ground at which point cutscene triggers and your little pet pal is eaten alive by some monsters.

As the heart-breaking cutscene ends, the game returns you to your homestead in De Rune Estate.

The Business at the De Rune Estate

As per the objective, follow the maid upstairs to grab the red tablecloth from one of the rooms and enter the other one to speak with your mother, Beatrice.

The situation becomes tense all of a sudden, as you hear about some ‘Inquisitors’ approaching the household. Look for your little brother, Hugo.

Head left from your mother’s room to enter an area where you’ll find Hugo playing under a small tent formed by a blanket. Witness the tragic execution of your father at the hands of the Inquisitors who seem to be looking for Hugo.

Have Hugo stick close to you by calling him via the down key on the d-pad.

Escape from the Inquisitors

With Hugo by your side, slowly make your way to the exit of the house. Head to the room to the left and hide behind the desk as a guard passes by.

Proceed through the spiral stairs, past the fireplace, and into the kitchen all the while sneaking behind the guards and never drawing their attention. Exit the manor halls and exit through the door at which point Beatrice comes to join you and Hugo.

Follow Beatrice as you move through the garden while hiding in tall grass and sticking close to your mother. Follow her instructions and distract the guards by throwing some rocks to redirect their attention away from you.

You’ll need to do this a couple of times and throw the rocks at metal sheets by using LB. Continue forward to reach a locked door and have Hugo crawl over into a small opening and unlock the door for the rest of the party.

Proceed through the bushes and the trees maintaining a low profile until you help Hugo climb up a window and over a fence.

At this point, you’ll be ahead of both Hugo and Beatrice so distract the guards by throwing a rock over at the scarecrow. Immediately call both your brother, mother, and continue forth.

Beatrice suffers a gruesome death at the hands of Lord Nicholas, the leader of the Inquisitors, as Amicia and Hugo continue to find a healing cure for the latter.

Perform one final run with Hugo as you sprint into the forest and away from the Inquisitors to flee death. Reaching the river marks the end of this chapter.
