After years of silence, Square Enix finally released a new Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer during Sony’s recent State of Play live stream. This marks the first new footage of Final Fantasy 7 Remake we have seen after the game’s initial showcase during Sony’s 2015 E3 presentation. The new trailer shows how development is shaping up forthe remake.
In the new Final Fantasy 7 Remake footage, we get to see new designs of fan-favorite characters like Aerith, Cloud, Sephiroth, and Barret in action during cutscenes and combat scenarios. It also provided a look at how the revamped combat system of the game will work.
Apparently, it’s the early footage of the game during which Cloud with other AVALANCHE is making way into a plant, which is a part of the famous bombing mission. The team also faces off against Guard Scorpion boss.
The one-minute gameplay trailer of Final Fantasy VII Remake is relatively similar to what we saw four years ago. Obviously, the graphics are now more detailed than before. Cloud’s hair look exceptionally well and we also get to see the new look of Sephiroth. You can check out the trailer below.
The new trailer ends with Square Enix promising that new information about the game will be unveiled in June. Since Sony is not attending E3 this year, we can expect Square Enix to reveal new details about the game sometime around E3.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been in the making for a long time now. The game director Tetsuya Nomura previously said that the game was announced earlier than he wanted. Last year, he confirmed to the fans that the remake is still in development and also apologized for the delays. “Finally… The long awaited moment has come. Sorry to keep you all waiting so long!” Nomura said.
While there is still no release date for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, from the trailer, we can assume that the development has progressed well and we can expect to hear a confirmed release date in June.
Along with the new trailer of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Nomura mentioned on Twitter that “most of the plans are already in place in the run-up to launch, so please bear with us a little longer until we can release more information next month.”
There’s no release date yet for the game, however, we can expect it to come out at the end of 2019. Whenever it does, Final Fantasy 7 Remake will release exclusively on Sony’s PlayStation 4. However, with the release of PlayStation 5 getting closer, we might eventually see it release on PS5.
