Ghost Recon Breakpoint PC Isn’t Coming to Steam

Ubisoft has now confirmed that upcoming Ghost Recon Breakpoint PC will be available exclusively via Epic Games Store, not on Steam.

Ubisoft Paris has now confirmed that the upcoming Ghost Recon Breakpoint PC will be available exclusively via Epic Games Store. This means that the next title in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon series will not be sold through on Steam. The developer confirmed this information in a statement to PCGamesN.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint’s exclusivity to the Epic Store is the result of a deal signed between Epic Games and Ubisoft. This move doesn’t come as a surprise since Ubisoft games like Anno 1800 and The Division 2 also launched exclusively via Epic Games Store along with the company’s own store, Uplay.

Currently, it’s unknown if Ghost Recon will ever launch on Steam like other releases. If you are a Ubisoft fan and against downloading games from a new client (Epic Store), then you have an option to buy the game from Ubisoft’s own Uplay Store.

Console owners are unaffected as they can play Ghost Recon Breakpoint on Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One, like previous entries in the series.

It seems like Ubisoft games releasing on Epic Store will be a norm going forward. Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite has been busy lately acquiring new exclusives like Metro Exodus and Borderlands 3.

Moreover, it’ll be interesting to see how this change of clients will affect the sales of the upcoming Ghost Recon game. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands has successfully managed to sell over 15 million copies until now and most of them are from Steam. Apparently, Epic is offering huge loads of cash, which is why Ubisoft is not worried about the potential loss of PC sales.

With that out of the way, Ghost Recon Breakpoint will release on October 4 with different Editions, which are now available for pre-order. These different editions include Ghost Recon: Breakpoint Standard Edition, Breakpoint Steelbook Gold Edition, Breakpoint Ultimate Edition, and Breakpoint Wolves Collector’s Edition. Pre-ordering any of these editions will give you access to Ghost Recon Breakpoint beta (date to be announced).

As for the game, it’s a direct sequel to Wildlands, where Skell Technology is located. The title’s antagonist is Cole D. Walker and Breakpoint takes places on a Pacific island called Auroa. The island consists of 11 biomes and features futuristic cities, arctic peaks, and deserts.
