Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to Sell 6-8 Million Copies, According to EA

According to EA CEO Andrew Wilson and CFO Blake Jorgensen, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is expected to sell between 6 and 8 million units during this fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2020. This Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sales forecast information was revealed during a recent Electronic Arts’ earnings call. The projections for the new Star Wars game are down compared to Star Wars Battlefront 2. It is possibly due to it being a single player game, a genre EA doesn’t have much faith in.

During this earnings call, EA also talked about the expected sales of upcoming games like new Need For Speed 2019 and a new Plants vs. Zombies title.

The new Need for Speed title we expect to sell around 4 million units, in line with past performance of the franchise, and the upcoming Plants vs. Zombies shooter to sell in the low single-digit millions.

There are no details about the new Need for Speed and Plants vs. Zombies title. EA is targeting a Q3 release window for Need for Speed and Plants vs Zombies. Both games will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

It’s hard to say how correct these projections are at the moment. Previously, EA projected its games like Anthem, Battlefield V, and Star Wars Battlefront II to sell well but the expected numbers were not reached. Star Wars Battlefront 2 sales were affected by predatory microtransactions and loot boxes.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is different from every other EA released Star Wars game, it’s a story-driven experience, without loot boxes, microtransactions and it’s not being developed with DICE’s dreaded Frostbite engine. That said, it’s safe to say that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will do well in term of sales. It’s also worth mentioning that Star Wars Battlefront 2 managed to sell over 7 million copies in a short time despite being filled with microtransactions.

As for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, it was announced officially by EA at this year’s Star Wars Celebration event. Fallen Order is based on the Star Wars Order 66 plot, events after Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith.

Players will take on the role of a young padawan who survived the Order 66. Also, the game’s story will not be short according to the game’s creative director Stig Asmussen. He also says that the game’s story will be a quality experience.

There’s still a lot to be known about Respawn’s next title. We will know more about the game during EA Play next month. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is scheduled to release on November 15 for Sony’s PlayStation 4, Microsoft’s Xbox One and PC.
