Two New Platinum Games IPs In Development, Studio Will Self-Publish

It’s been a rough few years for Platinum Games, but they now seem to be back on the upswing. Multiple new Platinum Games IPs are currently in development, and the studio will now be self-publishing its games. Along with Bayonetta 3, there are multiple new games that are currently in development.

We’ve seen two of these new Platinum Games IPs in production already, though there’s a third that we also don’t know about. E3 2018 saw Platinum unveil a new action game called Babylon’s Fall, and another new game called Astral Chain.

We know about more about Astral Chain than we do about Babylon’s Fall, at least in terms of gameplay. Astral Chain will focus around the player character battling monsters by making use of their own monsters captured through the use of special collars.

From what we can tell from the other of the known new Platinum Games IPs, in Babylon’s Fall players will be taking control of one of a variety of characters to climb to the top of a great tower and slay the goddess Gaia, who is oppressing humanity. Then again, we haven’t seen an actual trailer for that like we have for Astral Chain.

Bayonetta 3, however, is likely the most-anticipated of all of these. The game will be the third entry in Platinum’s popular series, as we continue the adventures of everyone’s favorite hair-whipping, pistol-wielding witch in yet more over-the-top action.

While Bayonetta 3 doesn’t have a release date yet, we can still anticipate the other new Platinum Games IPs that are coming out, and hopefully Platinum’s new self-publishing kick will work out just as well.

With luck we’ll be seeing all of Platinum Games’s upcoming IPs later this year, hopefully at E3 or some other event. And even more importantly, hopefully all of those games will be great like every first-party Platinum game before them.
