Death Stranding Gameplay Will Connect Everyone, Says Hideo Kojima

We hardly know anything about the upcoming Death Stranding. There’ve been hints here and there about what we can expect and while it has been silent for a while, we do have another drop of info from Hideo Kojima Himself. According to the game’s director, players will be connected in the Death Stranding gameplay multiplayer experience.

We do know the game is in a state where it’s very playable. What could this hint here mean though? Here’s what Mr. Kojima had to say about it on stage during a panel in New York.

“It’s an open-world action game, but it’s really something new. There are so many things happening in the real world – in America, in Europe – everything is actually connected by the internet, but in a way we’re not connected in the real world these days.
I’m putting that as a metaphor in the game. The player will have to reconnect the world in the game. You’re very alone, there’s solitude, but you’re trying to connect. The story and the gameplay, the keyword is ‘connection.’ There are so many things in-between, of course, but the key is connection. I also threw in a really new idea. You’re connecting the game, and everyone is playing it together, and you’ll be connected, everyone will be connected together as well. I can’t say anything because Sony will be very unhappy. I don’t want to be disconnected from Sony.”

Along with this, Norman Reedus, the actor portraying the main protagonist also added that he’s never seen anything like Death Stranding gameplay. At this point, it feels like we are chasing a mirage. When will we get some more info on Death Stranding gameplay?

This point that Kojima and Reedus talked about is directly related to the aspect of Death Stranding multiplayer. The way Hideo Kojima described it could relate to possibly an MMO type game model for Death Stranding.

On the other hand, it might also be more like the cameo system in Devil May Cry 5, only time will tell.
