Nintendo Switch Sales Passes 37.74 Million Units Worldwide, Nintendo Expects 18 Million More By 2020

Nintendo’s hybrid console has been popular among gamers since its launch which was further helped by incredible first and third-party support. Now, Nintendo has confirmed that Nintendo Switch sales have surpassed over 37.74 million units.

Nintendo announced it during its recent earnings call. Furthermore, Nintendo shipped 2.47 million Switch units in the three month period which ended on March 31 along with 23.91 million software sales.

Not only that, Nintendo expects Nintendo Switch sales to add 18 million more units by March 2020. By Nintendo’s estimates, Nintendo Switch sales will be around 55.74 million units.

Nintendo also revealed sales figures for its first-party titles released for Nintendo Switch. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe lead the charge with 16.69 million sales. Super Mario Odyssey sold 14.44 million units and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sold 13.81 million units.

Speaking of Switch, there is a rumor making rounds on the internet suggesting that Nintendo is planning a cheaper version of Nintendo Switch to launch later this year.

According to the rumor, this cheaper version of Switch will be available in June 2019. However, until it’s officially confirmed, take it with a grain of salt.

Growth in the current period will get a boost from the launch of a new, cheaper version of the Switch, according to two people familiar with the matter who requested anonymity to discuss private plans. The new device will likely be launched by the end of June, according to one of the people.

Aside from stellar first-party support, Nintendo Switch also has a great third-party video game support. The recent example of this is Mortal Kombat 11.

However, running Mortal Kombat 11 on Switch comes with compromises in resolution, textures and overall image quality.

Not only that, Persona 5 the Royal has also been announced and while it’s not confirmed yet but many are speculating that the game will also launch for Nintendo Switch.

Persona 5 is one of the best JRPGs out there and releasing it on Switch will certainly help the developer to reach a wider audience.

Nintendo Switch is a hybrid console and developers have to put in some work to have their game run in handheld mode. Turns out there is a hack that allows users to Overclock Switch.

This overclock allows for better performance in both docked and handheld mode. However, there is a reason why Nintendo has locked away this extra power.

Nintendo needs to strike a balance between performance, battery time, and heat. Having Switch running at its peak will result in more power consumption which will lead to more heat generation.
