Many players have been looking for a way to unlock Frost in Mortal Kombat 11. NetherRealm Studios are offering two ways to unlock Frost in Mortal Kombat 11. Players can either pay $6 for Frost to be unlocked straightaway or grind in the story mode towards unlocking her. But which one is the best?
Even though Mortal Kombat 11 has mostly seen positive gameplay reviews from fans of the series, there are some fans who are disappointed by how the NetherRealm Studios have designed the rewards system in MK11. Furthermore, many players are criticizing the game for its long grinding progression system and the quick microtransactional method to get past them.
It’s the same way with Frost in the game. The non-paying method to unlock Frost in Mortal Kombat involves playing through the game’s Story Mode until Chapter 4, where Frost will be unlocked at the end of Chapter 4.
The best way to unlock Frost for free is to play through Mortal Kombat 11’s Story Mode and skip past cutscenes. If you’re a good player, it will take you about 45 minutes. Of course, if you want to enjoy the story and watch the cutscenes, it will take you longer than an hour.
When it comes to unlocking things, it seems NetherRealm Studios has given players two choices: Either take part in a heavy grind and work towards earning Time Crystals, an in-game currency, which helps them unlock cosmetic items such as character skins or simply buy Time Crystals via microtransactions.
It also seems that NetherRealm Studios is playing tricks to get players into buying Frost for $5.99 instead of unlocking her through Mortal Kombat 11’s Story Mode. During the character selection screen, if you hover over Frost, the game will ask you to purchase her without even mentioning that there is another way to unlock her. This makes players believe that the only way to unlock Frost is to pay.
NetherRealm Studios recently said that they will fix the game’s grinding progression system in a back-end update soon instead of rolling out a full update. Whether or not it actually makes the game better is yet to be seen. Meanwhile, if you’re looking for a quick way to unlock all characters, check out our guide on that here.
