Report: Watch Dogs 3 Confirmed to Be Set in London

Watch Dogs 3 has been confirmed to be set in London according to a report by Kotaku’s Jason Schreier. According to him, Watch Dogs series is indeed heading to the capital of the United Kingdom, London after Chicago and San Francisco.

The game being set in London is a rumor circulating on the internet for a long time now. It started with the patch notes of Watch Dogs 2 back in 2017 which brought some changes to the game’s ending. These alterations included references to a new location which is something rare to happen after the game is launched.

In a report, Jason Schreier talked about the aforementioned patch and seemingly confirmed the London setting by saying “A new patch for Watch Dogs 2 also dropped a major clue for Watch Dogs 3, telling the world that it would be set in London (which it is)”.

The aforementioned patch of Watch Dogs 2 of 10 GB contained a lot of new items along with some conversation changes, during which there’s a file name shown, which is made up of numbers. These made up numbers point to Brixton, London.

It should be noted that these type of easter eggs pointing towards a future title are nothing new in Ubisoft games. The above information also aligns perfectly with the recently leaked information on 4Chan which also stated that there will be two new characters (male/female) to play with in Watch Dogs 3.

We are expecting the title to be revealed soon since the developer has said that there won’t be any new Assassin’s Creed title this year.

It’ll be interesting to see how they are going to adapt to the London setting especially in terms of combat. The United Kingdom is a place with strict rules and no open firearms, so it’ll be interesting to see how realistic it’s actually going to be. This also makes sense according to the rumors that the game will be more focused on hacking instead of combat.

Do take the above information with a grain of salt though as nothing has been officially confirmed by Ubisoft Montreal. We have our eyes set on E3 2019 where Ubisoft will be taking the stage to reveal some exciting new announcements. Watch Dogs 3 being one of them will certainly take away the attention of everyone with a massive surprise.

There’s nothing we can say about Watch Dogs 3’s release date yet. According to a recent trademark filing, the game will launch on next-gen consoles like PS5 and Next Xbox which are expected to be released or announced next year. Watch Dogs 3 can also turn out be a cross-platform title by releasing first on Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One.
