It’s Finally Here: Gearbox Software Releases Borderlands 3 Trailer, Bigger And Better Than Ever

The wait is finally over. After years of hoping, dreaming, and pleading, Gearbox Software has given the Borderlands fanbase what they want, and has released an official Borderlands 3 trailer. The trailer doesn’t have a release date for it, but Gearbox apparently made it with love, and oh boy does it show.

Borderlands 3 will be continuing the standard Borderlands formula: players are explorers called Vault Hunters on a desert backwater planet called Pandora, and are searching for Vaults, enormous storehouses of ancient precursor alien technology. However, there are other threats looking for the Vault, and it’s up to the Hunters to take them down.

From what the Borderlands 3 trailer shows, this is going to be the biggest game in the series yet. Featuring not only new villains (you can finally say goodbye to Handsome Jack for good), the new generation of Vault Hunters will also be running across the old ones, and will even be encountering Rhys, one of the main characters from Tales from the Borderlands.

Along with new characters, Pandora has also changed. The trailer makes mention of actual worlds, and shows off everything from enormous futuristic cities to enormous swamps, to Asian-looking arctic fortresses and the standard Pandora Mad Max-style scrap towns. Considering most of what we’d seen from Pandora already was either ice or desert, with a brief stint on the moon in the Pre-Sequel, this will undoubtedly be a very welcome change.

Considering the Borderlands 3 trailer was only shown at PAX East, we’ll likely be seeing more of the game as a whole at E3 or at some other gaming event later this year. But, if you’re a Borderlands fan and have been wanting to get back to the millions and millions and millions of guns offered by the game, you’ll just have to keep on the lookout for release information.
