Fans of Apex Legends are finally getting to see what EA and Respawn Entertainment have released in the season one battle pass. The Apex Legends pass includes several balancing changes and other fixes. One major highlight of the pass is the addition of a new character, Octane. Apex Legends finally gets Octane added after all the leaks and whatnot.
Respawn has taken the strategy to follow in the recent certain looter-shooters and Battle Royale games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s Blackout by focusing on a strictly experience-based system. The development team didn’t want to inundate players with a long list of challenges to complete so early on in the game’s lifespan
Lead Product Manager Lee Horn explained the “guiding principles behind the Apex Legends Season one Battle Pass” in a post on EA’s website.
Season 1 is about keeping it focused and allowing players to earn a lot of rewards at a great value (you even get the cost of the base Battle Pass back if you reach level 97). We’ll begin adding more and more innovations each season, as we evolve the Battle Pass.
He went on to explain:
We’ve added a Battle Pass progression bonus tied to playing a variety of characters, because we believe true mastery in Apex Legends means being a badass with anyone in any situation at any time. This season is about exploring the new meta and variety of team comps driven by the launch of our first new Legend, Octane.
Apex Legends season pass rewards were also enhanced, Horn explained that they tried to create a battle pass where the first time spender can get a strong base of weapon and character cosmetics.
In terms of rewards, we’ve tried to create a Battle Pass where first-time spenders can get a strong base of weapon and character cosmetics to fill out their initial collection at a deep discount. In addition, we’ve included our first ever three-stage evolving Legendary Havoc weapon skin (for veterans who are looking for the new hotness), as well as Epic and Legendary Apex Packs. These rewards are all, in addition, the 1,000 Apex Coins you can earn through the Battle Pass, which you can put towards unlocking the next Battle Pass.
In any case, Apex Legends Season One: New Frontier features a lot of content and playing experience for newcomers and long existing fans of the game as well.
Apex Legends is a first-person battle royale game available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
