Sekiro Shadows Die Twice Treasure Carp Scale Locations

One important thing to note about Treasure Carp Scales in Sekiro is that they are only found in water.

Similar to Crystal Lizards in Dark Souls games, these creatures run away if you take too long to kill them. If that happens, simply leave the area and come back later to cause them to respawn.

Once you have all 15 Treasure Carp Scales, you should be able to buy the following items from the Hirata Estate vendor:

  • Divine Grass: 1 Carp Scale
  • Mask Fragment: 7 Carp Scales/li>
  • Withered Red Gourd: 2 Carp Scales
  • Floating Passage Text: 5 Carp Scales

You can find the first four Carps swimming around the barrel itself where the merchant is hiding.

If you get close, the Carps will swim away so the best way to kill them is to wait on a rock outcropping nearby. Wait for the fish to swim by and sneak attack them.

Treasure Carp Scale #5
After killing the Carp near the Nobleman himself, head back to the shore where you will find a few boats nearby. Climb onto one and use any Fistful of Ash that you may have.

You will most likely attract another Carp that you can then drop down to kill in a swift Deathblow.

Treasure Carp Scale #6
In the Hirata Estate, you come to a point where you encounter a group of enemies on a bridge. If you glance down from the side of the bridge, you will see one of the Carps you are looking for in the water below.

All you have to do now is channel all those years of Assassin’s Creed and air assassinate it.

Treasure Carp Scale #7
After you pull off the legendary plunging attack on the poor fish, you need to dive into the water and go for a swim in the new experience that FromSoftware finally lets us swim.

Anyways, get to the other side of the shore and climb onto a large rock there. Circle around it and you will find another Carp there.

Treasure Carp Scale #8
You will also find this Idol in the Hirata Estate. Going past the Sculptor’s Idol, you will find a point that you can grapple upwards and off to the left. After you reach up, you will find a stream of water.

Follow the stream until you find a pool with the fish swimming around in it. Hop up onto a branch above the pool and go into stealth. Once the fish is in range, jump down and Mario the s*** out of it for another Carp Scale.

Treasure Carp Scale #9
You can find two fishes in a pond near the Temple Ground of the Senpou Temple area. Go past the building near the Sculptor’s Idol jump off the cliff into the pond. You will find the Treasure Scale there.

Treasure Carp Scale #10
You can find these Treasure Scales in the Sunken Valley after unlocking the Gun Fort area using the Gun Fort Key which you can get after beating Genchiro at the Ashina Castle Overlook, talk to Kuro and then you will get the key to proceed after beating Long Arm Gentipede. Once the serpent knocks you off the bridge, you will find two carps swimming below in the water.

Treasure Carp Scale #11, #12, #13
You can find three Treasure Scales in the *Ashina Depths*. One is purchased from the Exiled Memorial Mob, the other is an item on the ground near the first enemy you encounter after the purchase, and the third is on an actual carp swimming in the stream nearby.

You can get five scales from an NPC in the Mibu Village. He is the guy with the Shinobi door. You need to give him a key that you get from an underwater chest in the Fountainhead Palace area. Once you give him the key, reload the area. He will now be hostile and after killing him, he will drop the Treasure Carp Scales.
