Battlefield 5 Firestorm is finally on the way. Ten days of waiting left before EA and DICE officially add the battle royale to the latest installment in the Battlefield franchise. Surprised that the Battle Royale trend is still going, Apex Legends did kind of prove that, though will it kill Firestorm at launch?
From the reveal trailer of the upcoming game mode, we’ve been shown the basics of a Battle Royale. People landing with nothing but then proceeding to loot and shoot while being simultaneously pushed together by a closing circle.
Of course, this is Battlefield’s take on the Battle royale genre so there have to be a few twists. There’s an interesting perk system incorporated by completing objectives within the game. Doing so grants players/teams with bonus weapons/tools such as a tractor with an artillery cannon.
We were also shown helicopters and even a tank at the very end of the trailer so expect a lot of chaos. The franchise’s famous destructible environments have also made it into the battle royale game mode. A lot of fun mayhem and chaos can be expected there.
Battlefield 5 Firestorm also has the usual revive system, although there’s a small catch. You’ll still be able to defend yourself while downed using a pistol just like in multiplayer.
Every battle royale has its own kind of ring. Fortnite having the eye of the storm while PUBG has an electric field. Battlefield 5 will have a circular storm of fire that closes into the middle of the map. Who would’ve guessed that right?
We won’t experience every feature Firestorm has to offer just yet. A few additions and other updates are still planned in the future, such as duos. Currently, you can either play in a squad of 4 or as a solo player.
Hopefully they don’t make us wait for the updates as long as they did for the Firestorm game mode itself.
