Respawn Entertainment has announced the arrival of an Apex Legends Battle Pass, the better to fund their new smash-hit Battle Royale game. The pass will apparently only cost around $10, and might be releasing today in a similar manner to Fortnite, their biggest rival, which also has a Battle Pass for sale.
Apex Legends has only been out for around a month and a half, but its player numbers are huge, over fifty million, and it’s free to play. Its unique mechanics and differing style of gameplay from titles like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite, two of the bigger battle royales out right now. Call of Duty Black Ops 4’s battle royale mode Blackout is possibly the most similar, but Apex Legends still outstrips it.
The Apex Legends Battle Pass will likely be similar to Fortnite and Epic’s own battle pass, which allows you to get new weapons and loot and skins and emotes as you complete various challenges throughout each gameplay season. The first gameplay season is apparently also already starting, meaning there will likely be challenges that players can complete.
These challenges in turn give you Apex Coins, which will allow you to earn coins to purchase emotes and skins and whatnot, without having to spend more real money to get them. Considering how much money Epic has made off of Fortnite’s own Battle Pass system, the Apex Legends Battle Pass might catapult Respawn to the same heights of success.
Right now we don’t have much information about the Battle Pass from Apex, but hopefully Respawn will tell us more about it sometime in the near future. If you want to pick up an Apex Legends battle pass for your own game, you can likely find it on the store right now, and if it’s not available now, you can likely pick it up in the next few days.
