The Division 2 will release at different times depending on each pre-order version, but fans are clever enough to find a way to play it early.
After The Division 2 open beta going live on March 1st, early access of the game has already started. The official release date for The Division 2 is set for March 15th but you can play it early if you go through Uplay. You can even access it at different times as well. Early access for the game already went live on March 12 at 1 a.m. ET/10 p.m. Players who have purchased the Ultimate or Gold Editions of The Division 2 can start playing the early access right away.
Because of time zones, Australia and New Zealand get to play early access of The Division 2 first. Players have found a way to trick the system into detecting that they are playing from Australia and New Zealand and playing the early access of The Division 2.
What are VPNs?
VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) also called proxies, work as a middle man to transfer information between you and the game server.
According to a Reddit post, you can actually just use a VPN into tricking the system into thinking that you are playing from those regions where the early access is already available. The Reddit user u/zMattyPower gave detailed instructions on how to do this:
1. Close UPlay.
2. Use a VPN that you want and can proxy in New Zealand or Melbourne.
3. Proxy in “New Zealand” or “Melbourne”.
4. Open UPlay on 14.00 CET/9.00 EST/6.00 PST
5. Open The Division 2.
6. After you opened the game and you are in the Main Screen, you should be able to disable the VPN.
7. Have Fun! (Use at your own risk).
Although using VPN will help players from other countries to play the early access of The Division 2, it also can introduce lag and latency because the data is being transferred from an external server to your PC, and it can generally take a few seconds. This is why Ubisoft discourages the use of VNPs when playing online games.
Ubisoft has said on their Support Page
Ubisoft strongly recommends that players avoid the use of VPN services. Players who decide to use VPN do so at their own discretion while being aware of the potential risks associated.
