Mortal Kombat 11 Story Trailer Released, Features Plenty Of Time Travel Shenanigans

The Mortal Kombat 11 story trailer has been released, and features plenty of time travel shenanigans that we'll be seeing in the game's story mode.

Mortal Kombat 11 might be shaping up to be one of the most confusing Mortal Kombat games ever, and considering the series’s multiple timelines and huge cast of characters, that’s saying something. The Mortal Kombat 11 story trailer released today, showing tons of time travel shenanigans and some new characters to boot.

Mortal Kombat 11 is the direct sequel to Mortal Kombat X, and ended after the fallen Elder God Shinnok was defeated in an alternate timeline that was started in Mortal Kombat 9, which released back in 2011. Now Kronika, a new threat that can control the threads of time, wishes to “correct” what Raiden supposedly broke. To do this, she offers a reborn Shao Khan and numerous other fighters both alive and dead from all across time, the opportunity to build a new empire.

This poses trouble for Earthrealm, and so Raiden also begins creating a force of his own. Of course, this leads to things like multiple iterations of Shao Khan, two Johnny Cages meeting, a much more youthful Erron Black, and more. Adding even more trouble is that Liu Kang is still undead, and is now ruling Netherrealm. So at the same time that they fight Kronika, the defenders of Earthrealm must also contend with a demon army.

There’s no telling who all will be returning outside of who we saw in the Mortal Kombat 11 story trailer, but with plenty of time travel shenanigans in the works, anyone could show up, and who knows how many of that one person that there would be.

Either way, if you want to see the Mortal Kombat 11 story trailer for yourself, you can just follow this link. The game will be releasing on April 23 on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Pre-ordering the game will also nab you Shao Khan as a playable fighter.
