Xbox Lockhart Will Be Cheaper Compared to Xbox Anaconda

Xbox Lockhart and Xbox Anaconda will be announced at E3 2019. Lockhart is going to be the cheaper model that can't do 4K gaming.

Next generation of Xbox console will come in two variants with codenames Xbox Lockhart and Xbox Anaconda. Both machines are rumored to release by the end of 2020 with SSDs for faster loading in games.

According to a recent report, Xbox Lockhart and Xbox Anaconda will feature AMD hardware and are going to be somewhat different from each other. The Lockhart variant of the next-gen Xbox won’t include a Blu-Ray disc drive. The console is going to be a download box that’ll ditch the disc formate in favor of all digital content.

Disc format is becoming obsolete with each passing year and it seems Xbox Lockhart will be the first gaming machine to officially recognize an all-digital future.  The disc-less version will obviously retail for less compared to the more feature packed and powerful Xbox Anaconda.

Anaconda is not only packing a disc drive but also more powerful hardware compared to Xbox Lockhart. It seems it’ll be the same console release model as Xbox One and Xbox One X.

Xbox Lockhart specs

  • GPU: Custom NAVI 4+ Teraflops

Xbox Anaconda specs

  • CPU: Custom 8 Cores – 16 zen threads 2
  • GPU: Custom NAVI 12+ Teraflops
  • RAM: 16GB of GDDR6 memory
  • Storage: 1TB NVMe 1 + GB / s SSD hard drive

There is a big difference between how many Teraflops each Xbox console can put out. It is clear that Xbox Lockhart is going to be an entry level 1080p gaming machine. Meanwhile, Xbox Anaconda is the premium 12+ Teraflops 4K gaming console.

It is clear that Lockhart is going to be the cheaper Xbox model compared to Xbox Anaconda. The rumor also states that both next-gen Xbox machines will be discussed at E3 2019 by Microsoft.

The Redmond based company will send the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, on stage at E3 2019 to share the future of Xbox division.
