Hideaki Itsuno Had to Choose Between DMC 5 and Dragons Dogma 2

Hideaki Itsuno says that he had to choose between Devil May Cry 5 and Dragons Dogma 2 before starting his new project. He had ideas about Dragons Dogma 2.

Devil May Cry 5 is the upcoming game scheduled to release by Capcom but it could have been Dragons Dogma 2 according to Hideaki Itsuno. It was an impossible decision but in the end, he decided to continue the Devil May Cry series.

Hideaki Itsuno told VG247 that he had to choose between Devil May Cry 5 and Dragons Dogma 2 before working on the next project.

So, when the discussion came up for Devil May Cry 5, I went to Kenzo [Kenzo Tsujimoto, Capcom founder] and I said… look, I want to make either Devil May Cry 5 or Dragon’s Dogma 2 next.

He said ‘okay, do whatever you want. Do whichever one you want.’ So I thought, alright, y’know what… let’s do DMC5. So we did that.

The final decision might not be liked by the fans of Dragon’s Dogma but has surely made the fans of Devil May Cry series happy. Now the development of Devil May Cry 5 is almost complete but the ideas of Dragon’s Dogma 2 still remain according to Itsuno. He also mentioned anonymous 4 different titles that he would love to make. He’s already gearing up for his next project. He decided to not share anything about it but assured everyone that he’s very excited to work on it.

Whenever I make a game, I make specifically what I want to play, what I’ve always wanted to play. Dragon’s Dogma is one of those things where ever since I was a kid this is the kind of experience I wanted from a game. I think about that and then I work towards creating that experience.

Without any doubt, Itsuno is very proud about Dragon’s Dogma which released back in 2012 and is now available on current-gen platforms including Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PS4. With the latest installment of DMC releasing in March, we expect the director to openly start talking about his upcoming project which we are expecting to be none other than Dragon’s Dogma.
