Rockstar And Naughty Dog Animator Joins Sony For An Unannounced Game

James Martinchek, former animator at Rockstar who worked on Red Dead Redemption 2 now joins Sony for unannounced new game.

James Martinchek is an animator that worked with Naughty Dog and Rockstar, the minds behind Uncharted and GTA games. A recent tweet revealed that he’s moved to Sony to work on an unannounced new game, leaving his position at Rockstar Games behind.

This unannounced Sony game could very well be the “next chapter in cinematic storytelling” that the company claims to be working on. Who better than the animator of Red Dead Redemption 2 himself to join Sony’s development team? While this hasn’t been confirmed yet it is highly likely as James Martinchek’s expertise makes him a perfect candidate for the development team.

There’s a lot of speculation on what that could be. A sequel to God of War? Something we know to be in the works. Cinematic storytelling points towards the single-player genre. Single player games once again proved in 2018 that they are very much relevant and will remain in high demand for years to come.

We probably won’t know what this project is on this generation at least. Since anything that’s starting development at this point is something we’ll see make the light on the PlayStation 5. We already know that Japan is ahead in the curve with developing games for the PS5 already. It’s only a matter of time until we all catch up as well.

What do you think James Martinchek is working on next?
