BioWare’s Anthem Playable Demo Is Now Available on Consoles

VIP demo of BioWare’s Anthem is now available for pre-load on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. This is great news for all those people who pre-ordered Anthem through Origin Access or EA Access.

You won’t be able to play Anthem VIP demo until 25 January but still, it’s good to have the demo pre-loaded on your system and ready to go as it’s not small in terms of its download size. It’s being reported that the VIP trial of the game weighs in about 20GB on PlayStation 4.

Those who didn’t pre-order Anthem will also be able to try out this demo but at a later date. Public demo of the game will be available from February 1 to February 3.

To try out this VIP trial, you will need to have access to one of the following.

  • Origin Access (Basic or Premier)
  • EA Access
  • Pre-ordered through Origin
  • Pre-ordered through the PlayStation Store
  • Pre-ordered through the Xbox Games Store

If you have EA Access or pre-ordered the game then you’ll automatically be a part of this upcoming Anthem demo. If you pre-ordered a physical copy then you will have to use the code provided with it through an email or sales receipt.

Keep in mind that this demo of BioWare’s Anthem is not like any others as it’s different from the original game. This demo consists of things to have your attention. Unlike Destiny 2 beta, this demo doesn’t drop you at the beginning of the game but instead, it will drop you in the middle.

Mark Darrah recently explained how the demo is different from the original game.

How the demo is different from the game.

  • We start you in the middle
  • No tutorials
  • No pilot picker
  • Balance is super different
  • Economy is completely different
  • 6 weeks less bug fixes
  • With only 1 story arc, I think the mission/stronghold/freeplay balance will be off a bit
  • Slightly less nuanced PC controls
  • We’ve renamed a few things for clarity in the main game

You will start with level 10 in this taster of the game and you will have access to powerful Javelin and weapons.
