Bandai Namco has just given a tentative announcement that a new Dragon Ball game is beginning development this year, though so far we don’t know exactly what it’s about and what it will involve. We’ll likely learn more at the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour finals on January 26 and 27.
The new game, which promises to apparently be an action RPG game, will likely be coming out sometime this year. Whether it’s a third entry in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse games, or something entirely different, remains to be seen. That news comes alongside two other Dragon Ball announcements.
The first of these is the Super Dragon Ball Heroes World Mission game, which will be coming out for the Nintendo Switch and PC on April 5 in the West. The second is a Dragon Ball FighterZ announcement about the first new fighter of the game’s second season. While we don’t have any idea of who it is other than a hint (that they’re from Universe 11), it stands to reason it could be either Jiren or Toppo, both of which are powerful combatants from that universe.
While so far we don’t really have much go to on in way of information on this new Dragon Ball game, thankfully we only have to wait until the end of the month and the FighterZ World Tour finals to see what all it involves. Whether it’s a new Xenoverse game, an entirely new action RPG story, or something else, hopefully it will follow FighterZ’s trend of a good Dragon Ball game.
There’s also no indication of any sort of release window yet for the new Dragon Ball game, as we only know so far that it is beginning development this year. This likely also means that we can’t expect anything other than possibly a trailer or some concept art at the World Tour finals.
Either way, hopefully this new rash of Dragon Ball news will get fans of the franchise excited again.
