Mortal Kombat 11 Nintendo Switch File Size and Day One Patch Revealed

Mortal Kombat 11's Nintendo Switch file size has been now revealed along with the file size of game's day one update. It's bigger than you think.

Mortal Kombat 11’s file size on Nintendo Switch is a whopping 22.5 GB. This information was revealed through Nintendo’s eShop since the game is now available for digital pre-order.

Along with the original file size, MK 11’s day one patch will require at least 15.9 GB of free space to download, according to a data miner. It’s also bad news for physical edition owners of the game. The physical game uses 8GB of space on the cartridge, which means that they will also need 15.9 GB of free storage space to install day one update.

In addition to this, the day-one update is required to be installed in order to play Mortal Kombat 11. So make sure you have the fastest internet connection possible to play MK11 at the earliest.

The file size is going to a huge issue for Switch owners as it supports 32GB of storage maximum. This means that the players will have to opt for an external SD Card or delete most of their games to play Mortal Kombat.

We are not surprised as game file sizes have been always an issue for Nintendo’s hybrid console. Previous games like L.A. Noire, NBA 2K18, Doom and Elder Scrolls Skyrim were also huge in size. However, purchasing an SD card now makes sense since more developers are now porting their titles to the portable console.

Hopefully, the storage problems of the console will be solved with the rumored new models of Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch Pro is expected to come with more powerful hardware and increased storage. It’s expected to be unveiled at E3 2019.

As for Mortal Kombat on Switch, it’s looking really good and we have some high expectations from NetherRealm Studios.

Nintendo has also released a new trailer to showcase graphics of Mortal Kombat 11 on Nintendo Switch. The video is of a showdown between Kitana and Scorpion but it only lasts for 30 seconds with just 3 seconds of actual in-game footage.

Moreover, Senior UI Artist of the game Daanish Syed claims that the next entry in Mortal Kombat series is going to be the longest supported game from Nether Realm Studios.

If true, we are going to receive new content for at least two years after the game’s launch. In case you don’t know, previous Mortal Kombat games in the franchise have been hardly supported for more than a year so this is great news for the fans.

Mortal Kombat 11 published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will release on April 23 for Microsoft’s Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Sony’s PlayStation 4.
