The Bungie weekly update blog just got a new article and it suggests that some very important changes are coming to their latest Destiny 2 competitive PvP matchmaking. These changes are expected to go live on January 15th, 10 AM (PST) and will have a huge impact on the gameplay of this game.
Long story short, players will now find opponents ranked closer to themselves. In more accurate words, your “Glory” will determine who you end up playing with, and against. “Glory” has been around forever, but has always been just a useless number bar. You could end up playing against an opponent who would have twice or thrice the Glory you have and the game would still count as “Competitive”. This is really good news for those who are tired of the usual PvE play-style and want something different, but not unfair.
On their post, Bungie starts their article by stating that the fourth forge has been unlocked.
If you’re looking to replay the whole game, or just want to get back on the game, this may be the right opportunity to do so.
While the imbalanced match can still happen, we believe this change will reduce the number of occurrences dramatically. Players may experience longer matchmaking times as we will try to ensure a good Glory rank match before opening up the search criteria. Thank you so much for your feedback, and please keep it coming. We’re always improving the game and your feedback helps steer the conversation.
Bungie also states that many weapons and characters in the game will also get numerous changes. This is done to shift the combat meta with Sandbox updates to keep Destiny 2 as fresh as possible.
In another news, Saladin is making his regular visit to the Tower next week. There will be lots of unique weapons this time, just for players who participate in the tournament. The event will start on January 15th and will end a week later, on January 22th.
Two weapons can be seen here, with limited time skins. Quite a steal for some people, I must say.
If that isn’t enough, Destiny is teasing a new quest which will earn you a “storied” Hand Cannon, right after next week. We are surely looking forward to that. This definitely looks like the start of the Destiny 2 Roadmap 2019. Who knows how it ends.
