As mentioned in our posts from before, Intel is facing some serious challenge from AMD in the CPU department. Intel’s recent disclosure regarding their upcoming 9th-gen KF Coffee Lake Refreshes has further increased the gap between the customer and Intel. Apparently, the latest 9th generation “KF” CPUs will come without an iGPU. Farewell, Low Spec Gaming.
The ARK pages have confirmed this fact, and some of the 9th-gen KF Coffee Lake refreshes that have been listed on the page are the flagship “Core i9-9900KF”, Core i7-9700KF, Core i5-9600KF, i5-9400F, and i5-9450KF.
Apparently, Core i9-9900KF is seen to be boasting only 8 cores with 16 Threads, exactly the same as its iGPU supported counterpart “Core i9-9900K”. Evidently, everything about the “K” variant and their newer, non-iGPU “KF” variants is the same.
Even the TDP. Now, I don’t know much about CPU architecture, but since the iGPU isn’t going to eat CPU performance, I’m guessing the KF series will be faster in some fields if not many.
I’m guessing that you’ll have a good performance boost when using an RTX 2080Ti with a KF series CPU, as compared to a K series CPU. Now, I’m just a newb. I might be wrong. I’m wrong 99% of the times when I’m giving my own opinion, so you get the gist of it, right?
There is a new challenger in the field, on the ARK page!
i3-9350K seems to be the low-spec CPU of this generation. Boasting a 4 core with 4 thread chip-set, this CPU clocks at 4.00 GHz normally and boosts to up-to 4.60 GHz. Although the price hasn’t yet been set, I’m expecting this CPU to land in the lower 150$ bracket.
i5-9400F, basically the non-iGPU version of i5-9400, has also been announced on the ARK page. i5-9400F has a price tag of $182.
Apart from the visible deletion of the iGPUs from Intel 9th-gen KF Coffee Lake Refreshes, the maximum memory has also been reduced.
This may seem like a weird move to make, but we’ll probably hear more about that in coming days. The memory amount has been reduced from 128 GB to 64 GB from their “K” counterparts.
Intel has announced in its presentation, that these 9th-gen KF Coffee Lake Refreshes will be rolling out over Q1-2019.
The first one to come out is supposed to be our brave-hearted i5-9400. The “F” SKUs will supposedly come out after January, but no later than April.

It remains to be seen if these CPUs will feature better performance compared to the ones that feature iGPU. We will know for sure once we get our hands on them.
