Dontnod Entertainment, the developers of the Life is Strange series, have finally revealed the release date for Life Is Strange 2 Episode 2. The episode, the second in the likely five-episode sequel to the original Life is Strange, will be coming out on January 24 of next year for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
Life is Strange 2 once again tells the story of ordinary kids who have been thrust into extraordinary circumstances by discovering they possess strange abilities. However, unlike Max Caufield from the original game, who was still able to live fairly happily in her hometown of Arcadia Bay, the two protagonists of Life is Strange 2, Sean and Daniel Diaz, have been forced on the run by a tragic misunderstanding that rapidly spiraled out of control.
This new episode coming out in late January puts it at around 4 months since the first episode of Life is Strange 2 came out, but hopefully Life is Strange 2 Episode 2 will be able to make up for that by being even better than the first game, especially since we have no idea of what’s about to happen to the two protagonists as they continue to be on the run.
Dontnod already has an explanation as to why the two episodes are releasing so far apart from one another, mainly that due to the ambition and scope of the new game that previous timetables related to episodic games no longer apply. Considering how much slipping can happen to release schedules for episodic games, it’s at least an understandable excuse, if not the most creative.
Either way, considering what the original episode entailed, and where we could go from here in regards to how Daniel’s powers develop, and whether or not they’ll run into Chris from “The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit” prequel game this time around. You’ll just have to play Life is Strange 2 Episode 2 when it comes out to see where it goes.
