DICE has been planning a Battlefield 5 TTK update for a while. TTK for those that don’t know, being Time To Kill. Specifically being a calculation of how players should be affected by the damage they receive from the game’s diverse weapon set. Therefore this update will be changing the dynamics of Battlefield 5’s gunfights. Hopefully, for the better.

The Battlefield 5 TTK update focuses on the damage that weapons do to certain body parts. Changes to the head not being made. So you can stop worrying about your headshots not counting as one hit kill shots. For a more specific layout to how each weapon was changed. Here’s a list:

  • Semi Auto Rifles:
    • Gewehr 43, Selbstlader 1916: Drop to 4 Bullets To Kill around 39 m (never).
    • Turner SMLE: Drops to 4 BTK around 28 m (50 m), 5 BTK around 68 m (never).
    • Gewehr 1-5: Drops to 4 BTK around 13 m (30 m), 5 BTK around 44 m (50 m), 6 BTK around 63 m (never).
    • M1 Carbine: Drops to 5 BTK around 39 m (50 m), 6 BTK around 63 m (never).
  • Assault Rifles:
    • Can no longer 4 hit kill with body shots only.
    • Drop to 6 BTK around 21 m (50 m), 7 BTK around 53 m (never).
  • LMGs, MMGs:
    • Can no longer 4 hit kill with body shots only.
    • Drop to 6 BTK around 21 m (50 m), 7 BTK around 57 m (never).
  • SMGs:
    • Can no longer 4 hit kill with body shots only.
    • Drop to 6 BTK around 15 m (25 m), 7 BTK around 32 m (50 m), 8 BTK around 49 m (75 m), 9 BTK around 70 m (never).
    • MP34 does not drop to 9 BTK at range.
  • Self-Loading Rifles:
    • Will now require one extra shot when hitting the lower body, arms or legs unless the other shot is a headshot.
  • Buckshot Shotguns
    • Unchanged: Same damage.
  • Slug Shotguns:
    • Slightly adjusted: Will deal less damage when hitting the lower body, arms or legs.

Overall, the damage for weapons overall have been reduced so players aren’t immediately deleted between unusual circumstances. Such as a shot to the thigh ending a player.

Rather that the variables of range, weapon type, and body part have dynamically been changed to also up the immersion. As well as incline players to take more factors into consideration besides just shooting the enemy.

Along with the release for Overture, game balancing is a good step forward. Now people await the Battlefield 5 battle royale mode which is set to release with the Firestorm patch.

The Battlefield 5 Firestorm release date remains unconfirmed, however. The attention to TTK was also warranted due to DICE losing its player base with how often players were dying. Due to being frustrated with the Time To Death (TTD) parallel of TTK.
