By this time you would have heard of the Black Ops 4 Battle Edition. If you haven’t then, it is a discounted version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Black Ops 4 Battle Edition is available on Battle.net, meaning it is only available on PC.
Black Ops 4 Battle Edition currently costs $29.99, however, this price tag is only available till January 6, 2019. After that, the Battle Edition will cost $39.99.
As for the content, the Black Ops 4 Battle Edition includes the Blackout mode and other multiplayer modes. However, this special edition won’t include the Zombies mode. Also, in the future players can choose to pay for the rest of the content.
For fans interested in getting their hands on even more, an upgrade to the Digital Standard Edition on PC – which includes Zombies mode, 1,100 Call of Duty Points and Digital Edition bonus items – will also be available for purchase.
While Black Ops 4 Battle Edition looks like a good deal but, I am here to tell you that you shouldn’t buy it and here is why!
With the current boom in Battle Royale popularity, Activision ditched the single-player mode for Black Ops 4 and in its place included the Black Out mode.
Now Blackout mode is the main selling point for Black Ops 4 and Activision will support this game mode for a long time. The reason for the long-term support is, of course, the micro-transactions.
The Battle Royale genre is one of the few game genres in the gaming market that can be supported long-term and profited from. Black Ops 4 already features micro-transactions which can be classified as predatory.
However, microtransactions aren’t the reason I am asking you not to by the Black Ops 4 Battle Edition.
The reason for this suggestion is that Call of Duty is an annual franchise and we can be sure that another Call of Duty game will drop in 2019.
With the release of next Call of Duty, it is possible that Activision won’t include a Battle Royale mode but instead, it will possibly roll out the Black Ops 4 Blackout mode as a standalone purchase.
This will allow Activision to keep milking the Battle Royale craze, with its Blackout mode, and the Call of Duty franchise, with its annual releases.
So my suggestion would be that you don’t buy the Black Ops 4 Blackout mode and wait for the standalone Black Ops 4 Blackout to release. Then purchase that and that is why you shouldn’t purchase the Black Ops 4 Battle Edition.
Black Ops 4 is a first-person multiplayer shooter developed by Treyarch. The game is available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
