For people who are new to the game, Gordo is a projectile thrown by Dedede, its one of his special abilities. Besides Gordo Throw, Dedede also uses special moves such as Inhale, Super Dedede Jump, and Jet Hammer.

King Dedede has a new Final Smash, Dede-Rush, which features King Dedede taking his “Masked Dedede” persona from Kirby Super Star Ultra before trapping opponents inside of a caged boxing ring, attacking them with a barrage of missiles, and launching them with his Jet Hammer.

This was actually featured in Smash 4 but it now has greater knockback but deals less damage.

Special Abilities

Gordo
For people who are new to the game, Gordo is a projectile thrown by Dedede, it’s one of his special abilities.

In the previous games, the hitbox for Gordo was ridiculous, it was much smaller than the size of Gordo, but this has been patched. Gordo finally has a bigger hitbox; the hitbox is now matching the animation.

When it comes to using Gordo, there are a couple of ways in which you can use it. Firstly, you can simply spit it out and hammer it towards the opponent; which is the usual way of using it.

Secondly, you can curl the control stick upwards when you spit Gordo to make it bounce slowly. You can then either let it span the ground to restrict the opponent of Inhale it and launch it towards the opponent.

Super Dedede Jump
Super is also one of the special abilities and it has a couple of uses as well.

It’s a great recovery tactic as you can jump back onto the arena when you’re almost certainly knocked out.

Secondly, you can smash down the super jump onto your opponent to cause immense damage.

But better beware of a punish because if your opponent dodges the attack, you’ll be incapacitated for a moment and your opponent will be able to punish you badly.

Jet Hammer
A fully charged jet hammer can a damage of up to 40% which can possibly kill opponents. It can also break a shield when necessarily charged up.

However, when charging up the hammer, your movement is very limited and you can easily be attacked. So, you better be careful when using it.

Moreover, if you over charge it, it’ll start to consume your health.

Neutral
King Dedede has a really good hammer combos that cause a decent amount of damage. If you get close to your opponent and smash the hammer, it’ll quickly turn into a combo with a spinning hammer at the end causing a lot of damage. The combo ends in a huge knock back hit.

Dash Attack
The Dash Attack is very heavy, it’ll cause a lot of damage as King Dedede drop his whole body on his opponent when he comes running towards them. This attack can be used as a finisher as it takes a lot of health, it can end opponents in their late percentages easily.

Smash Attacks
King Dedede has some very strong hammer smashes. It has forward, down and up smashes of which forward smash is the strongest causing 30% damage at most.

To be able to inflict the maximum damage with the forward smash, you must be at the right distance to execute the attack; the hammer must land right upon the opponent. Too close to the opponent or too far away will cut the damage by as much as half.

Down smash can just break the opponent’s guards and you can start a combo off of it.

The up smash however, can be mixed up into combos very easily. You can use it after a down throw to knock the opponent away the combos can cause as much as about 40% damage

Outfits

Naturally, the king would have a great variety to choose from, the same case is here. King Dedede comes with 8 different outfits to make him look good.

These outfits are generally the same robes with different patterns and colors on each of them. One of them even features a completely grey Dedede.
