Well, this was expected but not this soon. Blizzard has confirmed it will announce new projects next year. These projects will grace the current Diablo series of games. However, it could still be a long time before we’ll actually get to play Diablo 4, or whatever Diablo they are working on, we all have browsers, right? Maybe a Chrome version?
While fans were expecting the game to be announced at Blizzcon this year, Blizzard decided to wait till next year to announce multiple Diablo games. And one of these games, hopefully, is going to be the 4th Diablo game on PC. It has been a long time since we last saw a PC Diablo game mainly due to the fact that the developers have struggled to come up with something that works.
Reportedly, Diablo 4 release date kept getting pushed due to many creative changes made to the game throughout its development. Now, we are hearing that multiple games will be announced next year and if one of them is Diablo 4, it is still wise not to expect a release date alongside its reveal.
We have many plans for Diablo across multiple projects which we’ll be revealing over the course of the coming year. We are eager to share more about all of our projects, but some will have to wait as we prefer to show you, rather than tell you, about them
A recent report from Kotaku claimed that Blizzard had plans to announce Diablo 4 during Blizzcon 2018. The announcement was supposed to be made alongside a clear message that it is not ready to be shown to the public just yet. Diablo 4 announcement plans were later scrapped. Blizzard has denied this report and claims there were never any plans of this nature.
What does all this mean? Simple, as I mentioned above even if Diablo 4 announcement is made next year, it would still be a while before the game actually comes out. The multiplayer cooperative video game is reportedly struggling with its development. One can only hope the company pulls through and has finally landed to the right concept for the next Diablo. The cooperative gameplay experience of Diablo 2 and 3 was amazing as well as the story, Diablo 4 needs to outdo both games.
2018 has been an interesting year for video games, Blizzard flipped Fallout 4 assets for Fallout 76, EA asked fans not to buy Battlefield 5, and Blizzard enraged the community with Diablo Immortal.
Here’s hoping 2019 will be better.
