The Leaked PS5 Prototype Images Are “Russian Fake News”

The leaked PS5 prototype images stirred the speculations pot a couple of days ago. It excited plenty of fans but unfortunately, the images are fake.

Over the weekend, many publications reported images from a PS5 prototype kit have leaked online. The leaked images are based on a concept render from a tech blog. The creators designed this concept render for PS5 in collaboration with Bonami Spelcomputer Museum.

A Russian tech site used these renders to create its own and run it as an exclusive “leak.” It is basically Russsian fake news and is completely baseless.

There are plenty of leaks and speculations around PS5 release date and when can we expect some news. However, this goes to show that every information you come across regarding unannounced projects should be taken with a grain of salt.

Sony skipped E3 2019 as well as the PlayStation Experience 2018. This is a strong indication that PlayStation 5 announcements won’t happen until late next year or early 2019.

This also means that PS5 prototype hardware and kits are sent to various publishers across the globe. Some fake news websites use this information to create fake news from fake sources. And often we see doctored images like these.

When Is The PS5 Going To Be Released?

Well, this is a million dollar question, isn’t it? PS5 is releasing sometime in Fall 2020. We say this based on opinions and analysis from various industry pundits. Also, Sony skipping E3 2019 is a strong indication that something is going to take place n 2020. Even if the console doesn’t come out, PS5 will get be made official by 2020.

Microsoft is focusing on first-party developments by acquiring more studios. Sony would definitely look at its competition and do its best to outperform. PS5’s games lineup will most probably be led by Death Stranding, The Last of Us Part II, Days Gone, and there are rumors of Horizon Zero Dawn getting an announcement alongside PS5 release date next year.

Of course, everything is unofficial at this point and we only have suggestive evidence and speculation based on our own experience in the industry.
