The studio behind the phenomenal The Witcher 3, CD Projekt RED have recently said in a statement and ensured that Cyberpunk 2077 will be a well polished, extraordinary, open world game.
They compared their aspirations for the upcoming game to Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 that released in October to a very successful reception. The game garnering critical acclaim for how detailed and polished its open world is.
Cyberpunk 2077 clearly wants to accomplish the same feat that Redemption 2 managed to do with the success of merging high-level detail with a vast open world. Projekt RED CEO Adam Kiciński expressed his aspirations on the game during a conference call with investors. He had this to say:
Without a doubt, quality is of paramount importance. We strive to publish games which are as refined as Red Dead Redemption 2, and recent Rockstar releases in general. That game is excellent, by the way, we are rooting for it. Rave reviews, excellent sales. What does that teach us? Well, it teaches us that we need to publish extraordinary games and that’s exactly what we are planning. Gamers, it seems, tend to focus more and more on hit releases. There’s only so much time one can devote to video games, and while the gaming community is growing, time cannot be stretched. There is – well, maybe not a surfeit, but a fair deal of good games out there, and playing them consumes a lot of time. So it pays to be among the best – that’s how you get a nice fat slice of cake, businesswise, and the same cannot be said for the lower leagues. In summary, we are rooting for Rock Star and for Red Dead Redemption 2, and we’re happy to see that excellent games continue to sell well.
He also added that the ongoing development of the game was fast and according to plan. Meaning we could possibly see a Cyberpunk 2077 release date soon. Fingers crossed for it being next year but it may take more time.
A Cyberpunk 2077 demo would also be nice to get one’s hands on before the actual release of the game. We’ve already seen a gameplay preview of it once before, so it’s not far fetched to expect a demo for Cyberpunk close to its release. However, CD Projekt RED has never released a demo for its games so it is unlikely.
Another clear-cut advantage that Projekt Red has over Rockstar is Cyberpunk 2077 PC. Since the company plans to release for both consoles as well as computers. This not only gives it an accessibility advantage but also better performance on the PC setup.
While we wait though, all we have is the developer updates and of course, the Cyberpunk 2077 meme generator to keep us entertained until the game comes out.
