Diablo 3 Amiibo support has been now confirmed after a lot of rumors. Early this week, it was revealed through a data mine that the game comes with Amiibo Support.
Embargo for Diablo 3 has finally lifted and Destructoid confirms that indeed there is a Diablo Amiibo on the way. The game at least supports one Amiibo called the Treasure Goblin. Using Amiibo first time on Switch brings a tutorial showing how it works.
There’s no official word from Blizzard so we are expecting them to announce it when the game releases.
The datamined information appeared on Reddit first revealing that these all can be used offline or online. Information based on the datamine is as follows.
Based on datamined information from the Switch version of the game Diablo 3 will support 3 types of Amiibo:
- Default/Generic Amiibo
- Treasure Goblin Amiibo
- Demon Amiibo
The first two will spawn a portal leading to some location (controlled by the server so can’t be datamined) while the demon amiibo will spawn a powerful demon on the map. To prevent abuse, there’s currently a cooldown on each type of the summon:
- 22 hours (1320 minutes) for portals
- 45 minutes for demons.
Now, all we have to do is wait for the official announcement so we can grab these as soon as possible.
Diablo 3 Eternal Edition releases on November 3. It consists of every additional downloadable content ever released for the game. This additional content includes Reaper of Souls story expansion.
There have been rumors that Blizzard is working on cross-play but it’s not going to happen. Blizzard has confirmed that they have no plans for cross-play though they love the idea of bringing players together. So expect this to happen maybe later in the future.
Cross-play is back in talks once again, thanks to Sony. You can now also play Fortnite with your friends on PS4 or Xbox until Diablo enables it.
As for the game, you will not need Nintendo Switch Online membership for Diablo 3 seasons but it’s required to play the multiplayer.
