Rockstar’s latest title, Red Dead Redemption 2, hits the worldwide market this weekend. The game’s been highly anticipated before it was even announced due to the hype RDR 1 left in its wake.
This, of course, means that the hype train sped up upon the official announcement and is now out of control due to its impending release. PSN, therefore, bit off more than it could chew with the sheer amount of players rushing to download and play the game this Friday.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has a whopping file size of 97 GB on the PS4, yikes! Good internet or not, this puppy will take a while to download. Couple that with the fact that basically, the entire gaming population of this planet wants it, makes a potent combination of heavy bandwidth consumption.
The added desperation of people wanting to get a good fix of the Western game over the weekend before Monday just adds to the online rush hour.
Users have reported the download issues to only be occurring with their RDR 2 files which add to the assumption of how many people want this game.
Red Dead Redemption 2 serves as a prequel to its predecessor, putting the player in the boots of Arthur Morgan, an outlaw in the dying old West. Who with his gang is on the run from the long arm of the law.
The game also features returning characters like John Marston, the beloved protagonist of RDR 1. Equip yourself with a big arsenal of vintage weapons and saddle up onto your trusty steed for the adventure of a lifetime.
Knowing all we’ve got in store for us, you can’t really blame the world for wanting their hands on this game ASAP, right? Just that people may have to wait a weeee bit longer to get their hands on RDR2 which sure, its possible given how long we’ve waited. But God is it painful.
