Steam Player Count Jumped To A Record 90 Million Per Month

Valve has now revealed some updated stats of Steam including a record of 18.5 Million peak concurrent users. User activity of Steam player count also reveals a rapid growth in the daily and monthly number of players.

Two developers from Valve, Kristian Miller and Sean Jenkin took the opportunity at Melbourne Games Week to discuss the player stats of Steam. According to the team, Steam now gets about 47 Million daily active users and 90 Million for the whole month.

Interestingly, some of these users make 1.6 Million worth of purchases in a single month. Valve also mentioned that they are now working on to make Australian Dollars an official currency on the store.

Valve plans on implementing this change by the mid of November. It will obviously make it easier for the gamers living in Australia to make purchases without having their total converted to USD.

Now, this rapid change in the Steam player count is mostly because of the interest in games like Dota 2 and the famous PUBG which sold more than 15 million copies alone in China.

Valve is working on other currencies to be supported in the store. Some of them are as follows.

  • Vietnamese Dong
  • Ukrainian Hryvnia
  • Australian Dollar
  • Polish Zloty
  • Argentine Peso
  • Israeli New Shekel
  • Kazakhstani Tenge
  • Kuwaiti Dinar
  • Qatari Rial
  • Costa Rican Colon
  • Uruguayan Peso
