Soul Calibur 6 LowLevelFatalError, Black Screen And Fixes

Soul Calibur 6 is the latest entry in the franchise that brings fan-favorite characters. This could also be the last entry in the franchise according to devs.

This according to producer Motohiro Okubo, who noted that Soul Calibur 6 might be the last entry in the long-running franchise if the game doesn’t do well in terms of sales.

The game also uses Denuvo DRM and many are already blaming the DRM for the issues they have been experiencing with the game. The following are the errors and issues that players have been facing along with their fixes and workarounds.

LowLevelFatalError

Players are reporting that the game suddenly crashes on startup while playing Soul Calibur 6. According to players, after the crash, they get Fatal Error.

For some players, the error tells them that “Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost” and for some, it pops up “Result failed
at C:\jenkins\sc6\UE4_Steam\Engine\Source\Runtime\Windows\D3D11RHI with error 8876017C”.

The fix for the Fatal Error with “D3D device being lost” message” is simple. The reason for these errors to pop up might be because of the overclocked GPU.

Just revert back to its stock settings and if the GPU is running on stock settings then try lowering the clock speed of your GPU. This will resolve the crashing and Fatal error for you.

Another reason for the LowLevelFatalError to pop up is because of the game trying to access both external and integrated GPUs. Just disable the integrated GPU and the issue will resolve.

Crash On Startup, Crash Fix

There are a number of reasons for the game to crash on startup. Here are a few things you can do to fix the crashes.

First up is make sure there is no background process running that is using too much of your CPU or HDD. If there is then just terminate that program.

Update your GPU drivers if you haven’t already as updated drivers bring game-specific optimizations. Also, try lowering the game’s settings if your GPU doesn’t meet the system requirements as this can cause the game to crash.

Another reason for Soul Calibur 6 to crash could be the anti-virus or Windows Defender. Either disable your anti-virus or make an exception for the game’s exe file in your anti-virus. This will resolve the crashing issue for you.

Msvcp140.dll Is Missing

This is another Soul Calibur 6 Error that players are experiencing. This issue is quite common among the PC community and the fix is simple.

All you need to do is install Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 and 64-bit version Visual C++ Redistributable. This installs the missing Msvcp140.dll file and you will be able to play the game.

You can also try to manually download the “MSVCP140.dll” file from the internet and copy it to the game’s install folder. However, we don’t recommend that since it may compromise your system.

Ultra-wide (21:9) fix

Players are experiencing issues with the Ultra-Wide resolution for Soul Calibur 6. However, the fix for this issue is simple.

First, make a backup of your Soulcalibur VI.exe file in case if things go wrong. Now download the file from this link and replace with the Soulcalibur VI.exe file in the install folder. Black bars will still appear for the menu but, you will get the full Ultra-Wide experience in-game.

In case something does go wrong and you haven’t backed up Soulcalibur VI.exe file. Then just verify game files from Steam and it will fix it.

Green Screen Fix

Nvidia GPU users have reported that when they play the Soul Calibur 6 in Fullscreen, the screen goes green. The issue is related to the color settings in the Nvidia control panel.

To fix this Green mess, open Nvidia Control panel and select “Change Resolution” under “Display”. Click the “Use Nvidia Color Setting” and select the “Highest (32-Bit)” for Desktop Color depth. This will fix the Green Screen issue for you.

No Sound Fix

Players have reported that they are not getting any sound or audio while playing Soul Calibur 6. The issue might be the wrong audio channels set for your audio device.

To fix this problem, open Playback devices and select your active audio device. Now click on “Configure” and select the right channel for your headphones or speakers. Meaning if you are using 7.1 Headphones and select the 7.1 channel and click next. Just go with the test and your no sound issue will resolve.

Black Screen With Sound, Black Screen Fix

Players are reporting that when they start the game the screen goes blank but, they can hear the game’s audio. This is a common issue for PC games and the fix is quite simple.

Start the game and when the black screen appears press “ALT+Enter”. The game will go into windowed mode and you need to change the game’s resolution to your monitor’s native resolution and you will be able to play the game in Fullscreen mode.

FPS Boost, Low FPS, Stuttering Fix

Performance issues are common in PC games due to a number of PC configurations. Here are a few things that will help you eliminate stuttering and fix your Low FPS.

First, make sure your GPU drivers are up to date as new drivers bring game-specific optimizations.

Also, check if there is no background process running that is using too much of your CPU, HDD, or GPU. Disable your integrated GPU as sometimes games run in the integrated graphics instead of external GPU.

Those who own at least Nvidia GTX 10 series GPUs can try another thing. Open Nvidia Control Panel and select “Manage 3D Settings” and select “Program Settings”.

From the list select Soul Calibur 6 and look for the V-sync option. Set V-sync to “Fast” as this will potentially boost your FPS significantly if you have the GPU or CPU to handle it.
