Rocket League Cross Platform Play Put On Hold Yet Again

Psyonix has been entertaining a mix of soccer and car fans with the Rocket League video game. But the matter of having a cross-play feature in the game has been up for debate for quite long. Now that it was finally looking ready developers decided to delay it further. Rocket League cross platform play is now scheduled to come out in 2019 instead.

The developers decided to announce the news on the official Rocket League website. Psyonix has been working on this feature for some time now. But they believe fans must wait to have the best Rocket League cross platform experience.

A centralized system of users accounts by the name of Rocket ID was being developed for the game. The Rocket League Rocket ID would bring together the gamers from all platforms. But the statement issued shows the delay to see to the further upgrade of the feature:
“While our goal was to release RocketID before the end of 2018, we’ve made the difficult decision to push its release into early 2019.

Furthermore, they indicated the possibility of integrating the Rocket League servers. The cross-play for Rocket League came up way before Sony enabled Fortnite cross-play. But it has opened up given the game new options to explore. Psyonix recognized this opportunity by saying:
“The good news is that with Sony’s recent announcements regarding full cross-platform functionality, we can now make additional changes to prepare RocketID for ALL platforms should we receive permission to do so!”

Nonetheless, Rocket League users would experience incredible changes once Rocket ID gets launched. Although the wait can be hard patience allows Pysonix to make the game better than ever. The Rocket League cross platform ID system last came in news a few months back.

The Rocket ID system intends to enable the players to make parties with friends in the game. The already present cross-play feature among Xbox, Switch, and PC does not allow this. Rocket League Rocket ID can offer a way to dodge the typical matchmaking to connect with friends.

The developers are readier than ever for the PS4 platform to enable cross-play. But nothing can is certain until Sony decide to allow the cross-play in Rocket League.

The popular car soccer game surpassed 40 million players earlier in the year. Meanwhile, a Rocket League Ultimate Edition also got announced for all platforms.
