PS4 Pro and Xbox One X pack additional power compared to their base versions. However, not every game takes full advantage of these consoles and Fortnite was one of them. However, Epic Games has fixed it with Fortnite Update 6.10 that increases the game’s resolution to 1440p for PS4 Pro.
Fortnite update 6.10 is the latest update to roll out that bumps up the game’s resolution to 1440p for PS4 Pro. Meaning the game will render at 1440p resolution when played on a 4K TV.
The game will then use checkerboard rendering to upscale to 4K. Previously the game ran at 1080p resolution even for a 4K TV. It took Epic Games a while to increase the game’s resolution.
However, 1440p is still lower compared to other third-party games out there. But, given that the game targets 60 FPS on consoles it makes sense that Epic Games has chosen 1440p.
Fortnite’s popularity skyrocketed as soon as Epic Games introduced Fortnite Battel Royale. However, the launch of Black Ops 4 has changed things as Black Ops 4 managed to attract double the viewers of Fortnite on Twitch.
However, Black Ops 4 had a little effect on PUBG’s player base. PUBG saw a minor 4% decrease in its player base following the launch of Black Ops 4.
The reason behind this could be the fact that PUBG’s player base declined significantly month-over-month since February 2018. There is a possibility that right now only hardcore fans are playing PUBG and the rest have moved on.
Speaking of PUBG, the devs are planning to introduce a new PUBG anti-cheat system. PUBG Corp has failed to control hackers in its game but, this anti-cheat system might just do the trick.
According to devs, this new PUBG anti-cheat system will permanently ban the hardware caught cheating.
Bans based on the hardware will yield better results. This system will ban the PC itself and no new account will work on that system.
Fornite is a free-to-play battle royale title developed by Epic Games. The game is available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
