Why Red Dead Redemption 2 Cast Isn’t Star Studded, Dan Houser Explains

Dan Houser sat too talk about the Western themed adventure game and revealed why Red Dead Redemption 2 cast is not filled with celebrities.

Rockstar Games is going to release it’s the biggest title later this month. Dan Houser recently spoke about Red Dead Redemption 2 in an extensive interview. In it, Dan told how they got to the decision of not having celebrities in the Red Dead Redemption 2 cast.

After facing some issues while making the GTA games Rockstar didn’t hire big names. According to Dan, these issues were due to the egoistic nature of some celebrities. If we go back in time to GTA Vice City’s time, the cast had big names as voice actors.

Ray Liotta, Danny Trejo, and Burt Reynolds etc. were all featured in GTA Vice City. But the Red Dead Redemption 2 cast does not have such famous actors doing the job for Rockstar Games. Dan Houser suggests working with well-known actors can clog the smooth game development.

In this regard, Houser recalled the time when Burt Reynolds and he had a bitter fall-out on the sets of GTA Vice City. In the act of this argument, Burt Reynolds shouted at Dan saying “Get the limey out of here.”

Dan established how such an incident could hurt the process of making the game:
“I don’t want to speak ill of the dead, poor bugger, but we don’t bring in name actors anymore because of their egos and, most important of all, because we believe we get a better sense of immersion using talented actors whose voices you don’t recognize.”

So, they hired unheard-of voice actors to avoid hassle for the sake of Red Dead Redemption 2 release. Moreover, he also mentioned another incident with Chucky D.

This incident happened while making GTA San Andreas. The tiff between them led to Houser bringing another director in for the game. Dan commented on it by saying:
“I think rappers really want to do the work right, We also always had a good experience with pop stars. But we haven’t used either significantly for a long time.”

So if players don’t recognize voices behind Red Dead Redemption 2 characters this is why. But Red Dead Redemption 2 cast might not seem familiar, Dan Houser assures that they add the depth to the story.

Moreover, this does not imply that the ego has rather shifted toward Rockstar Games. In fact, they recently did a kind gesture of letting an ill patient enjoy the Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay.

Moreover, they are being humble about the success of Red Dead Redemption 2 as well. We have not been able to find one poor Red Dead Redemption 2 review and we’re certain you’ll also not be able to do that too.
