Diablo 3 Crossplay Ruled Out By Blizzard, For Now

Everyone had been under the impression that Blizzard is working on crossplay for Diablo. Fans were looking to hear official news from the video game developers. But recent comments suggest that Diablo 3 crossplay is not in their plans yet.

Blizzard Entertainment was reportedly working with Sony and Microsoft on the cross-platform subject. Diablo 3 Eternal Collection for Nintendo Switch was being worked on for cross-play. The only doubt was about when Blizzard wishes to bring it out.

A recent reveal shows that time for Diablo cross-platform play isn’t anywhere near. The latest statement on this issue by Blizzard Entertainment says:

While we love the idea of bringing our players together across platforms, we do not have any plans to implement cross-platform gameplay for Diablo at this time.

So, as much as we all want to see the Diablo cross-platform play happening it won’t be coming any sooner. Meanwhile, the previous claims seem as mere misconceptions. Cross-play is the thing of the future now more than ever before.

Developers should consider it on serious grounds now. Given that Sony is also active on cross-play after all. Moreover, Blizzard established that Diablo 4 at Blizzcon is part of a marketing approach. Diablo 4 is expected to come out on PS5 and Xbox Scarlett as an MMO.
