The Nvidia RTX 2070 is an unreleased product right now, even though it has been announced. It will come out later this month but we have some leaked benchmarks that show how well it compares to the 2080 and the 2080 Ti.
The leaked Nvidia RTX 2070 benchmark shows that 2070 is able to score 8151 points while the 2080 scores 9266 points. The 2080 Ti is the top of the line model so it is no surprise that it is able to score 10850 points.
The Nvidia RTX 2070 is the bare minimum requirement for Nvidia real-time ray tracing. Which is something that you should keep in mind if you are interested in the technology but are not willing to spend as much as the RTX 2080 or the 2080 Ti.
Nvidia’s Tom Petersen touched on the matter and the following is what he had to say in this regard:
So I would say with 6 Giga Rays you can definitely imagine you’re not going to be able to ray trace the same way you do with a 2080 Ti, but kind of like level-of-detail, or like Ultra, Min, Max settings, you’re going to cast fewer rays. It’ll be a little less sharp in the reflection, a little less clear in the ambient occlusion, but it’s still going to look pretty good.
It is worth mentioning that the Nvidia RTX 2070 offers the same level of performance as the GTX 1080. If you are interested in checking out real-time ray tracing then getting the more expensive card makes sense. Otherwise, if you want raw performance then you should be better off with Pascal. You will spend less and get the same level of performance. Provided that you are fine without RTX features.
Let us know what you think about the Nvidia RTX 2070 and whether or not you are interested in buying one of these graphics cards when they come out later this month.
