Ubisoft Takes a Jab at EA For Its “Pride and Accomplishment” Comment

Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed Odyssey just a few days ago and with it took a jab at EA. The company made mocked EA’s “pride and accomplishment” comment in regards to Star Wars Battlefront 2.

Before you can face Minotaur in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey you need to get your hands on three tokens. These can be acquired by completing certain challenges. But you can skip the grunt work and just buy the tokens from the appropriate “Trial Master.” There are three trials and each has a different trial master.

If you speak with the master of the trial of accuracy he will ask you to find his two sons. However, during the dialogue you will have the option to ask him about the token; and if he would just sell them to you. His reply to the question is a direct shot at EA:

you want to pay to win? That’s uhh…Aren’t you a warrior? Where’s your honor? Where’s your sense of pride and accomplishment?

EA locked majority of its heroes from Star Wars Battlefront 2 behind a pay-wall. The pay to win model was highly criticized by the community to the point where Govt intervention took place.

EA’s Notorious Comment of Pride and Accomplishment

The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes.

As for cost, we selected initial values based upon data from the Open Beta and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch. Among other things, we’re looking at average per-player credit earn rates on a daily basis, and we’ll be making constant adjustments to ensure that players have challenges that are compelling, rewarding, and of course attainable via gameplay.

We appreciate the candid feedback, and the passion the community has put forth around the current topics here on Reddit, our forums and across numerous social media outlets.

Our team will continue to make changes and monitor community feedback and update everyone as soon and as often as we can.

The irony here is that Ubisoft itself offers pay to win options in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. There are time-savers, XP boosters, and much more on sale to allow players to boost up their character.
