Intel i9-9900K Overclocked To 5 GHz On All Cores, Could Reach 5.5 GHz

Out of the box the Intel i9-9900K is able to hit 5 GHz but not on all cores. Since this CPU comes with an unlocked multiplier, you can overclock it provided that you have a proper cooling solution. An enthusiast was able to get the Intel i9-9900K up to 5 GHz on all cores which is very impressive and 1.23V was used to for the overclocked.

Intel i9-9900K Cinebench Score

According to the information that we have, in theory, if 1.35V is used then the CPU could get up to 5.5 GHz on all cores. The Intel i9-9900K is an 8 core CPU so it is going to produce a lot of heat when overclocked to such a degree so liquid cooling should be used in order to overclock the chip.

What concerns me is the kind of degradation the chip will undergo when overclocked to 5 GHz on all core or higher. 5 GHz is not something new but this is the first 8 core Intel chip that has hit the mainstream and it will be interesting to see what kind of performance it will be able to offer.

The user also tested the CPU in Cinebench and the chip was able to score 2166 points, which is pretty respectable. You can check out the benchmark below:

We got a similar leak a while back but the Cinebench score was not as high as the one we see here. It could be that better driver support has added to the performance. These CPUs are supposed to be released today so we should find out soon enough. It will be interesting to see what kind of performance the Intel i9-9900K will have to offer. Especially as compared to the AMD Ryzen 7 series CPUs.

Let us know what you think about the Intel i9-9900K CPU and whether or not you are interested in getting one.
