Forza Horizon 4 is the latest entry in the Forza franchise and is now fastest-selling Forza title ever in the UK. However, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey saw a decrease of 26% in physical sales.
This is according to the UK charts. FIFA 19 took the first spot despite facing a 64% drop in sales in its 2nd week. Forza Horizon 4 made it to No.3 spot on UK charts and despite that, it is still the fastest-selling game in the franchise. According to Xbox:
We’re thrilled that Forza Horizon 4 has been so well received by gamers across the UK. Set in beautiful, historic Britain and made by British studio Playground Games, Forza Horizon 4 is the fastest-ever selling game of the Forza Horizon series in the UK according to the latest GfK data. We’re also seeing a huge uplift in Xbox Game Pass subscriptions and engagement. These achievements are a testament to the craft and ambition of the latest release of the Forza franchise, the world’s biggest racing IP.
Things weren’t particularly bright for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, as the game saw a 26% drop in sales. However, it is important to note that these numbers only include physical sales and no digital purchase has been taken into account.
Last year’s Assassin’s Creed Origins sales were 35% digital, so there is a chance that this percentage might have increased for the digital sales.
Another factor for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey sales dropping 26% is that AC: Orings launched after a break of two years while Odyssey launched 11 months after the release of Origins. As noted by Gamesindustry, this one-month early release gives Assassin’s Creed Odyssey more time for a run-in to Christmas.
Speaking of Forza Horizon 4, till now we have been seeing a yearly cycle of Forza games with Forza Motorsport launching one year and Horizon the next.
But, this cycle will break in 2019 as Turn 10 Studios has confirmed that there won’t be Forza Motorsport 8 in 2019. Instead, the studio will be working to improve Forza Motorsport 7.
This is the best course of action as Forza Motorsport 7 didn’t fulfill fan expectations. There was quite a hype in the follow up to its launch, partly due to the game rendering at native 4K on Xbox One X.
Forza Horizon 4 is an open-world racing title developed by Playground Games. The game is available exclusively for PC and Xbox One.
