Here we will list down all of the errors and issues that players have been experiencing with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and will also list fixes and workarounds for them so that you can play with any problem.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Black Screen, Low FPS And Fixes

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the latest entry in a long-running franchise and this time around, Ubisoft has focused on RPG elements instead of, making the game a usual Assassin’s Creed title that focuses on stealth.

This time around the focus in the combat, story and player choices. There are a total of 9 ending for the game depending on player choice. Point being, the game is more of an RPG instead of an Assassin’s Creed title.

The following are the errors and issues that players have been experiencing along with their possible fixes and workarounds.

Game Not Launching

Players have reported that when they try to play the game it doesn’t launch. There are a couple of things that might be the problem.

The first is that your CPU doesn’t have support for AVX(advanced vector extension) which the game requires to run. This is probably due to the use of Denuvo DRM. This will probably be fixed in a future patch.

Another reason for the game not launching might be your anti-virus or Windows Defender it might be detecting the game’s exe as a trojan virus. EIther make an exception or turn-off the anti-virus to fix this problem.

Crash On Startup, Crash Fix

This is another one of the issues that PC players have been experiencing with Assassin’s Creed Origins. The issue might with a third-party software like MSI Afterburner that you have been using. Turn off the third-party software and the issue should resolve.

HDR Fix

HDR is one of the features that have been pushed quite a lot this generation of consoles as it makes a lot of difference. However, players are reporting that HDR isn’t working as intended for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

The reason why the HDR isn’t working for the game is the 3rd-party monitoring software like MSI afterburner and RTSS. Just disable them and the HDR will start working as intended.

Stuck At Splash Screen

The culprit behind this problem is potentially the drive where the game is installed. Move the game to ‘C’ drive and the issue will resolve.

The Procedure entry point cef_get_geolocation Fix

This is another Assassin’s Creed Origins error that players have been experiencing. However, the reason why this error is popping might be that the Uplay isn’t updated.

Just go to Uplay.com and download the installer for the Uplay client. Run the installer and it will update Uplay. Now you should be able to play the game without any problem.

Black Screen Fix

The black screen is one of the most common issues in PC games, however, the fix is simple. To fix this issue, start the game and when the black screen appears, press “Alt + Enter” and the game will go into windowed mode and you will start seeing the game on your display.

Now go to the game’s video game options and change the game’s resolution to your monitor’s native resolution and you will be able to play the game in fullscreen mode.

If this doesn’t fix the black screen issue for you then it might be your GPU driver. Update your GPU driver and the issue should resolve.

Another reason for this error to pop up might be a missing “.dll” file. In that case, just install the latest version of the Microsoft .NET Framework and install Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013. This should resolve the issue for you.

Controller Not Working, Controller Fix

Players have reported that their controllers aren’t working on the PC version of the Assassin’s Creed Odessey. The fix for this problem is quite simple.

All you have to do is click Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > Checkmark Xbox/PS4 Configuration Support. This should make the controller work.

Audio Buzzing, 7.1 Surround Fix, No Audio Fix

Players have been experiencing issues with the game audio like there is a constant buzzing sound or NPC dialogue is almost mute.

As for the buzzing sound, Open Playback Devices and select your active audio device then click on properties. Select the “Advanced” tab and there will be a list of audio sample rates for your system.

A little trial and error would be required here but one of the sample rates will fix the buzzing issue for you.

For those who are getting very low audio or having trouble hearing audio with their 7.1 surround headphones, open Playback Devices in Sound and select your active audio device.

Select the device and press configure on the bottom left. Select the right channel for your audio device and press next. Once you are done with this, the audio issue should be fixed for your 7.1 Surround headphones or speakers.

Furthermore, if you aren’t getting any dialogue audio for your 7.1 surround headset then try changing the channel to stereo which will resolve the issue until Ubisoft rolls out a patch.

Low FPS, Stuttering Fix

It goes without saying that you need to update your GPU drivers as latest drivers bring game-specific optimizations.

Not only that, make sure there is no program running in the background using too much of your CPU or HDD. Close the application is there is one.

Another thing you can try to boost your FPS is open Nvidia Control Panel and select “Manage 3D settings” and then select “Program Settings”.

Here select the game from the list and in the options look for V-sync and set it to “Fast”. While it is unlikely that it will give you a steady 60 FPS boost but it will help with the stuttering if you have the GPU or CPU that can handle it.
